December Daily Album… 2009!

Monday, October 26th, 2009

I’ve followed Ali Edwards’ blog for a while, and my favorite project she does is the December Daily Album. Around the beginning of November, she starts assembling an album for the month of December… and in December, she takes at least one photo each day and scraps a page for it in the album. She has just posted her first part of the 2009 album here… and you can read more about the project here. I love this idea and the way it will preserve your holiday traditions!!! I started my album last year and only got as far as the cover because my husband fell ill with appendicitis and needed surgery… then he got a bad infection after the surgery that landed him in the hospital again. ANYWAYS, this year I’m determined to do it and see it through to the end! You start your album ahead of time and simply add in pictures and journaling in December.

I started thinking about my album back in August (I know, I’m insane). I combed through Two Peas in a Bucket and searched for the perfect albums…. and came across these My Edgy albums in colored chipboard and acrylic. I can’t seem to find them on Two Peas anymore… but did find them at scrapbook.com…. and unfortunately, they are double the price I paid for them at 2Peas. :( Anyways, I mixed a brown chipboard My Edgy Album with a clear acrylic My Edgy Album. There’s also pink, green, red, etc… For this project, you’re supposed to have 25 pages, and I’m a little short, but I’m going to add more mixed pages in, maybe even mount a picture or two onto heavy cardstock and punch holes in it and add it in.

For this project, I decided to use Zoe Pearn’s Little Joys kit at Sweet Shoppe Designs… I love the yummy colors and adorable patterns! I also used a few papers by Miss Mint at Peppermint Creative… the damask patterns from her Jingle Bell Rock Paper Pack.  I printed the papers on 10×10″ cardstock through MyPicTales for 50 cents per page.

See how cuuuute Zoe’s papers are?!?

I also bought some colored cardstock and some gorgeous glitter cardstock at Joann’s to match…

I already decorated my acrylic cover and started on the first page. When working with acrylic albums, I’ve found the best adhesive for your papers is a spray adhesive like Craft Bond. Don’t apply the spray to the album, just to the back of your paper. I used Glue Dots to adhere the embellishments.

Embellies!!! My favorite part of scrapping… ahhhhh! Sooo pretty! I’m going to use an assortment of trims, ribbons, mini jingle bells, Prima flowers, Making Memories stickers, and some handmade felt embellishments….

I’m so excited for this project! Wanna’ make one with me? :D

Do you miss me?

Sunday, December 28th, 2008

Do ya? Sorry about the lack of excitement here…. but I bet most of you are busy with family and holiday festivities! Hope you all had a very Merry Christmas!!! Look, I scrapped a page! YAY!! This is lil’ Miss Allie on Christmas morning! Look at her cuuuuute piggy tails! Sigh. She’s growing up too fast. *cry* I used Dani’s Sweet Cupcake and Candy Coated Christmas for this page.

Well, I am sick and so is Allie. I’m working on a Valentine’s kit right now and I already have one fabulous kit all ready to go for an early January release! I’m hoping to have the Valentine’s kit done in time for that release, but I may not… being sick zapped my mojo!! :(

And all y’all stalkers out there. STOP LURKING!! I get all depressed when I don’t get blog love. :P hehe

The 12 days of Christmas!

Did you know that you can grab a fab freebie every day over at the Girl Talk blog during the 12 days of Christmas? Yup! And I just posted a cutie patootie hybrid bag. Go grab it! :)

Winter’s in the air!

Wednesday, November 12th, 2008

Well, we don’t get much of a winter here, but I love dreaming of real winters…. where I could actually dress up in sweaters and sit next to a cozy fire… or play in the snow! Here, it gets cold at night and in the morning, but by the afternoon I usually have to take the jacket off. Oh well. So, I created a kit that reminds me of everything I wish our winters were… fun, chilly, and snowy!

I bring to you… Snow Day!!! This kit has super fun papers and elements and is versatile for both boys and girls.

And for a limited time, buy the kit and get the coordinating QPs for free! Sweet deal, eh? :) No need to add the QPs to your cart if you’re picking up the kit… the QPs will automatically be included in your download.

Also, I am addicted to acrylic, so I made up this alpha that matches the acrylic in the Snow Day kit! Acrylic is so hot right now. Get it. ;)

And Leslie has released some awesome stuff too! She made this incredible Christmas MEGA kit. Check it out!!! Here’s my page using it….

I’m in the process of organizing a CT… still looking to add a couple ladies and I’m thinking I might do a call to fill those last 2 spots. ;) Check back this weekend for that and I’ll be back later to post all the fab pages using Snow Day!!! :)

Oh, and I’ll give away Snow Day to two lucky ladies! Just leave me a comment and I’ll come back on Thursday 6pm PST to pick the winners!

Pages, a badge album, and gearing up for DSD!

Saturday, October 25th, 2008

It’s Saturday and Dani has an AWESOME new kit at SSD! It’s gorgeous… just LOVE it! Check out Holiday Spirit!

With Digital Scrapbooking Day (DSD) quickly approaching, I decided I should go use some stuff I’d bought recently and hadn’t used yet… hard to justify buying new goodies if I have unused stuff on my HD. ;) I bought Julie Bullock’s Play Day when SPD had their $1 sale earlier this month… it was such a STEAL at $1 and was already on my Kaboodle, so I snatched it right up! It’s so pretty… fresh colors, a little touch of glitter, ribbons, doodles, string, acrylic, and totally fun prints… totally my style! This page really came together on its own.

And here’s a page I did for the Cookie challenge at SSD. This kit is so fun too. I’ve been trying to make a conscious effort on my latest pages to use more patterned papers as backgrounds… I think that can be a little challenging sometimes, but I love how they look!

If you’ve never done hybrid before, badge albums are a great place to start! They are soooo easy… probably the leasy hybridy hybrid you could do! ;) You design your pages (I used Miss Mint’s FABULOUS Patchwork Princess) or pick up some badge album QPs, print, cut and slip them in the vinyl ID badge holders then tie the holders together with ribbon! That’s it! They are so cute and fit right in your purse. They also make great gifts… You can find the badge holders at Walmart in the office supply section for $1.60 per pack of 12. I only used half my pack so these are reaaaaally cheap. Image is linked if you are interested in seeing the interior pages. Each of my pages were designed at 2.4×3.5″.

Speaking of DSD, I hope you have your Kaboodle/wishlists ready! I haven’t bought anything the past week and won’t buy anything this week either (unless there is a $1 sale) to save my pennies for DSD. It’s NEXT Saturday, Nov 1st! Just about everyone will have a sale… and you better plan on making the hubby take care of the kids so you can chat it up and participate in all kinds of contests! :D lol… Here’s a thread at DST with DSD sales listed so you can get your game plan ready. ;) I’m still anxious to see what sales SSD, SPD, TLP, and Weeds & Wildflowers will be having… I’m ready to shop! :)

Are you getting excited for Halloween??! I got Allie a cute little UofA cheerleading costume and a little “tattoo” for her face. Our church is having a “trunk or treat” party on Friday and we plan on going to that. Allie is too young to eat candy, but there will be lots of games and food for the adults too. ;)
