I’m looking for 5 scrappers who are EXCITED about digital scrapbooking and love my designs. CTs are expected to create one layout with each new kit and post their layout before release day so I can use layouts in my ads on my blog, in my newsletter, and to promote new products on my Facebook page. It is important that you are comfortable with your layouts being shared online and on my Facebook page (and no blurring of faces on layouts, please). The purpose of scrapping for my CT is to promote my designs, so when you create a layout for a kit, the layout must be 100% created with Designs by Megan Turnidge product (with the exception of using templates and fonts). CTs post their layouts in 3 galleries: the Scrap Orchard gallery and 2 others of their choosing. I need scrappers who really want to help me promote my designs, so I expect you to share sales, events, and promote new products where possible. When you CT for me, you are representing me and my team around the forums, so I expect you to be drama-free. Let’s all be sweet, k?!

I have mixed emotions about these calls. It KILLS me as I sift through all the amazing applications. I only need 5 girls and the competition can be tough on these calls! I am so excited to see your beautiful work and hear all about you, though! Please know that I really, truly appreciate each and every one of you who put yourselves out there and apply for my team. The other day my hubby called me and asked if I wanted to plant some flowers near our front walkway. I headed to Home Depot and found some ranunculus. Ranunculus are my most favorite flowers EVER! They are sooooo pretty. They make me smile every time I walk by them! I hope they will survive our summers here.

We had a wonderful Easter! My kids enjoyed their Easter egg hunt. It was my little guy’s first hunt and he was very excited about all the “tandy.”

We went to church on Sunday morning in our new Easter outfits and then came home and made a yummy dinner of honey ham, crash hot potatoes, carrots, rolls, and my fave dark chocolate cake. My sister, her husband, and their new baby came to spend the afternoon with us. It was a beautiful Easter Sunday!

That’s my handome man. Everyone tell him to shave his beard! lol! He is going on a “Mountain Man Rendez-Vous” in June and he’s growing his beard until then. He’s gonna look scary by the time June comes around! I don’t think he’s ever let a beard grow out for that long!

My man grabbed the camera and got a shot of me with my kids. I rarely get to be in the photos since I’m the family photographer. By the way, isn’t my dress absolutely FABULOUS?! If you haven’t heard of JUNIEblake yet, you need to check them out! They make fashion-forward dresses that are modest. AND the designers of JUNIEblake live local, so I actually know one of the designers. Pretty darn cool. I adore this dress! This is the Ardene. It is SO comfy and covers everything I want covered, and it’s very flattering. Plus, it’s got my fave colors. It even covers my knees and that’s a pretty big deal. Almost every knee-length dress hits above my knees and it’s very frustrating! Tall girl problems. *sigh*

Now we’re prepping for our trip to DISNEYLAND! We’re going near the end of the month and I think I’m just as excited as my 5-year-old…. perhaps MORE excited than her. This will be our FIRST real family vacation. My daughter is at the perfect age for it and she talks about it every day. She wants to meet the princesses and Flynn Rider. I bought her 2 princess dresses to wear in the park. I just want it to be the most magical experience for her because the next time we go, she’ll likely be at an age where it’s not quite as magical.

We made a fun countdown Mickey Mouse chain so she can always see how much time we’ve got left until our trip. She loves taking off a link of the chain each morning and counting the remaining links.

I wish this was my original idea, but it’s not. I got the idea from here.

I also made a ruffled Minnie Mouse tee for her for the trip! A tee shirt + pre-made ruffle from Walmart’s sewing section + some Fabric Fusion glue were all I needed! I stole the idea from here.

First, you must see what we were using before – a laminate coffee table that I got on clearance at Walmart for just $10. I needed an upgrade…

See this vintage style dresser? We scored it for $100 last year on a “yard sale” Facebook page. I had been looking for a low, wide dresser to replace our TV stand and I totally jumped on this one! It was pretty beaten up, with lots of chipping paint, scratches, some chipped wood, and one of the side boards and the backing piece were both falling off. Still, I had to have it and I knew I could make it look like new again with some TLC.

It was missing one of the original drawer pulls, so I had to figure out something else. I bought 6 vintage pulls on Etsy for the large drawers and 3 crystal-look acrylic knobs for the smaller center drawers. The pulls I ordered were pretty dirty, so I soaked them in a hot water, vinegar, and baking soda mixture and gave them a good scrubbing. Then I spray painted them a brushed nickel color. Here’s a comparison of their original state vs. after their vinegar + baking soda bath:

On the first weekend, I glued the falling boards on, filled the hardware holes on the center drawers, gave the whole piece a really good sanding, and then primed the piece with some Zinsser Cover Stain Primer. On the following weekend, I sanded the piece lightly again and then gave it its first coat of paint. I chose Planetarium by Behr from my local Home Depot. I started painting really late in the day, so I had to wait until the following Saturday to give it a second coat of paint. Even then, some of the white was showing through… I painted a THIRD and final coat on the next Friday. I then let it cure for a whole week. We were going to bring it in on that 5th Saturday, but the whole dresser felt sticky and when I wiped down some of the drawers lightly with a wet paper towel, some of the paint was rubbing off. My hubby told me we needed to put a finishing coat on it. I was not real happy. I wanted to be DONE with this project! So, back to Home Depot we went. I picked up a spray can of some satin finish polyurethane. I did three coats of the polyurethane on the dresser and drawers that day. We let it dry for 48 hours and just brought it into the house last night! That finishing coat made a huge difference and now I feel like that hard work is really protected.

I was jumping up and down when we slid all the drawers in. It looks pretty darn awesome. Right?!?! I love it. A lot. I wanted a dresser rather than a usual TV stand for the ample storage. I’ve got diapers and wipes stored in the three drawers on the right (I always just change my toddler on the floor in the family room). We’ll put our scriptures and such in there too. We decided not to put DVDs in it for now and they’re up where little hands can’t destroy them.

Anyways… now I should be able to knock out some more kits with my Saturdays being freed up!
