Add another team to the list

Friday, May 30th, 2008

Apparently I am too addicted and had to apply when I saw a call for Micheline Martin’s team at SSD. I made it! Yay! Her stuff is great!! I just rave about her Crunch Time Templates. They are awesome! Well, here is a LO I did using her newest kit, Atomic Amber, out tomorrow:

More goodies out tomorrow at SSD: Dani Mogstad created an AWESOME kit called Deep Blue Sea and it is soooooo amazing! Seriously, if you have lots of pool, beach, or even bath pictures, you’re going to want this one! I haven’t scrapped with it yet because I have ZERO pics to match it (I JUST scrapped the only pool pics I have). I am trying to think of a hybrid project for it….. hmmmmm….

And don’t forget that tomorrow is the LAST day you can pick up goodies at Peppermint Creative for 30% off! Tons of delicious stuff there this month! :)

One more thing! Traci Reed at SSD is having a call for her team! Here’s the link to the thread if you want to apply. I won’t be applying because I honestly won’t have enough pictures to scrap for all these designers. LOL!! :)

Oh wait, one more thing for serious this time! LOL! New goodies later today over at GG Digital Designs! NEW FREEBIE too! Here are my LOs for those kits:

Nothing too exciting

Well, I just received my first set of Basic Grey albums in the mail. I got one bracket album and a quarter pint 6×6 album. I’m having a really hard time deciding what I want to use them for and whose products I want to use on them! :P I’ll probably save them for Dani’s team since that is my hybrid CT and the other teams I’m just a LO Artist. If you’re looking to buy some BG chipboard albums, go to Embellish It! I got each album for only $4! Most places they sell for at least $5.50. Plus I had the albums in my mailbox 4 days after placing my order. They even hand wrote a little thank you on my receipt! Fantastic! I will order from them again if these BG albums are successful. I wish I had picked up more. Oh well!

Oh, if you’re looking for some great, free templates, stop by the Cookie Decorating 101 board at Sweet Shoppe Designs. Every two weeks they pick a wonderful LO and make a template out of it. You can either participate in the challenge or just download the free templates. Go grab them even if you aren’t using them right away since they are only available for a month or two. Here is a 2-page LO I made using the current template: (click here for credits… you can click on the LO to get a closer look since it is so small)

And here’s my current fave LO. I loved these pics so much, I had to scrap them the same day they were taken! :) Allie’s first encounter with a pool. teehee! She’s so cute!

A toot for me! And a bad review…

Late last night DST announced the winners of the 2008 Scrappers Choice Awards. Layouts could be submitted or nominated. I submitted some of my LOs for several categories just for fun and won for Best Newcomer! Check me out. :) I won a $25 GC to Studio Wendy at Scrapbookgraphics and I already spent it! I picked up some actions and templates. I’m excited about my drop shadow actions because it is annoying to have to adjust my shadow settings all the time. One of the reasons why PSCS3 would be nice (since I’d be able to write my own actions), but I’ll stick with my affordable PSE. I don’t have $650 just lying around.

A few weeks ago I had my first Shutterfly book printed. I am less than impressed. In fact, a little disappointed. I had heard so many people say how much they loved their bound albums. MANY of the photos on my pages came out blurry or grainy. Most of my scrap supplies on the pages look good, but one background paper lost ALL its detail and looks splotchy. I complained to Shutterfly about the problems and they said that my images were the issue and not their printing. Well, let me tell you! The pages looks PERFECT on my end. I have no idea what they are talking about. My images are NOT grainy. They are hi-res, 300 dpi, saved as a high quality JPEG. Here’s one page that did not print well: (for credits click here)

Go ahead, click it to look at it more closely. It looks great, doesn’t it? In my book the pictures of us have a lot of noise. That yellow BG is all blurry with big white splotches on it. They offered me a free book to replace it and told me to “fix” my files. My files do not need fixing. So, I’m not going to use that free book since I don’t want to pay $8 for shipping on a book that will probably print the same. I will not be printing with them again. A gal on one of my CTs recommended Viovio to me and it is quite a bit cheaper than Shutterfly. She said she had the same issues with grainy pages when she printed with Shutterfly but that her Viovio book looked great! I will be trying them next. The only problem is that I’ve been told their site is hard to navigate, which I can already tell is true.

Alright, onto some exciting stuff. Dani just put out this awesome collab with Emily Merritt at SSD. It’s called Her Royal Highness. Perfect for girl pages! I did a LO and a hybrid coupon book. Well, that’s it for now, folks! :)

Welcome!

Well, here it is. I decided to start a blog dedicated exclusively to my digital scrapbooking ventures! I am sure I was boring my friends and family with all my scrap talk, so this will be a nice change. Come, make yourself at home, don’t be afraid to leave me a comment (even if you’re a total stranger), and let’s share some scrap news and resources! If you’re new to digi scrap, don’t be afraid to ask me questions. Here, you’ll be able to find news on fun and exciting events and sales taking place at my fave scrap sites, especially the sites I CT for…since I know what’s going on with them best.

A little about me: I am a student, one year away from receiving my B.S. in Family Studies and Human Development. I hope to become a family counselor one day. I have been married for over 2 years to my awesome hubby, Tyrel. We have a GORGEOUS daughter, Allie. She is 6 months old now and such a joy!

I am totally addicted to digi scrappin’. It is a real problem…I think I need a 12 step program! LOL! Hey, but how many people have such a fun hobby that also allows them to preserve their precious family memories, right?! It’s a productive obsession. I wasn’t really interested in digital at first. I had a hard time letting go of my paper and scissors. My hubby bought me PSE 5.0 for Christmas 2006 and I used it at first mainly for editing my wedding photos. Then I decided to give it a shot. I downloaded just about every freebie I could find. I hated nearly every page I made, mainly because the supplies I found were crap. So I got desperate and kept googling “free digital scrapbooking downloads” and eventually found a site that linked to Peppermint Creative. Oh the JOY! Not only was there a freebie, but it was AWESOME! The elements looked realistic! And the kit was BIG! Oh man! I came back the next month and there was a new freebie! Alright! I loved Miss Mint’s stuff so much, I had to start buying from her. I eagerly awaited every new release, refreshing her downloads page about 20 times whenever the 1st of the month came around (learning quickly that she is not always on schedule…LOL!). It wasn’t until I finally joined DST in March did I find other sites (by browsing the gallery and reading page credits) with awesome products too. So, I’m sorry if I seem a little biased toward PC, but it’s the site that really got me going on this digital stuff. Now I’m hooked and on her CT! And I can’t forget my other two CTs: GG Digital Designs and Design by Dani. I am lovin’ it! Gotta’ love the free goodies! ;)

Well, like I said, make yourself at home and join me in my quest to convert the world over to digital! ROFL! :)
