I’m back! Woot!

Friday, August 21st, 2009

And I’ve been so busy unpacking and getting settled in! We love our new place… well, except for the fact that it was really a pain to get internet service out here. haha

Anyways, I’m sorting through my massive stack of emails. If I didn’t respond to an email you sent me, will you please email me again? I had to delete masses of spam and it’s possible I accidentally deleted 1-2 good emails. ;) Thanks!

I just wanted to share a super easy project I did as I was unpacking my daughter’s room! We’ve had this Cubeicals storage unit for a while now and I love using it to store Allie’s toys. Ever since I got it, I thought it would be way cool to cover the backs of the cubbies that didn’t have the little fabric cubes in them.

Before…

I was going to take the boards off the back of the unit and mod podge some paper on there (hybrid/digi style!) but I hammered those things on so well that I couldn’t take them off! I decided it would be cheaper to do fabric anyway and I already happened to have some fabulous fabric on hand…. so I cut out some cardboard (from unpacked boxes…hehe) so it would fit perfectly (and snugly) in the cubbies. I also cut out 5 squares of fabric that were about 2 inches larger on each side than the boards so I’d have some overhang. Then I sprayed the fronts of the boards with a spray adhesive (craft bond) and glued my fabric squares to the cardboard, smoothing out all bubbles. Then I turned the boards over and hot glued the overhang to the back of the boards The boards slid right in and fit perfectly in the cubbies… and I think they turned out way CUTE! What do you think? :)

P.S. I’m sorry the photos are blurry and grainy… I haven’t had time to re-photograph. But you get the idea…

Going MIA!

Tuesday, August 11th, 2009

Hello my faithful blog readers! I’m just coming to post a quick note that I will be MIA for the next week. We decided about a week and a half ago that we wanted to move to a new place and we are moving THIS Saturday! It’s crazy, but I’m super excited (our new place is way bettern than our place now)! I hate packing though… and I need to get back to it! So, if your emails go unanswered, please bear with me and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can. :) Thanks!

Actions!!!

Saturday, August 8th, 2009

I have been coveting the Totally Rad Actions for over a year now… and once I finally purchased PSCS4, I couldn’t afford the price tag. I am not the best at editing photos, so when I saw Sarah Cornish’s new shop, My Four Hens Photography, with loads of awesome photo actions, I bought the entire set!!! She had a grand opening sale where her whole shop was 50% off… so I got a fab deal and got that whole package for only $49! The sale has ended, but there are rumors she will have another sale in a few weeks when she releases more actions. :)

I just wanted to show off how awesome these are….. I love that most actions leave all the adjustments on their own layer so you can easily tweak the action to suit your photo! The Photographer’s Tool Box is a must and I *heart* the Eye Pop action included in the set!

I got this picture of my DD while we were on vacation. She had been in her stroller as we toured Salt Lake City sights and was really tired of being stuck in there. She looked so sad. I LOVED that I got such awesome catchlights in her eyes. I used the Eye Pop action to boost them a bit and then ran the Classic Beauty action from Savannah’s Actions in the Sweetheart Collection.

Her eyes look like diamonds! hehe! Love it! :D My daughter’s eyes have a really beautiful, complex coloring to them. They have blue and sometimes green flecks in them and they are a beautiful golden color near the center. These actions really brought out the best in her eyes that I can’t usually capture.

Here are two pics I took just a few minutes later… as you can see in the originals, they have a blue color cast to them. I was able to correct that using her Brown Eyed Girl action from Stella’s Actions in the Sweetheart Collection and then I also ran the Golden Brown action from Color Play.

And I’ve barely tried out any of these actions!! I have so many more to play with! LOVE. THEM. :)

Most of her action sets are for PSCS users, but she does have a few that are marked for use in PSE5 and up: Black & Brilliance, Retro Summer, and Vintage Elements.

Oh and she’s got a FREEBIE here! :)
